Alpine Rescue Techniques Manual

Case Study: Alpine Rescue Techniques Manual
Client:
New Zealand Mountain Safety Council
Timeframe
: October – November 2008

It’s not every day that we work on a resource on which lives depend, but Alpine Rescue Techniques was this kind of resource. If you’re being winched up into a helicopter on a stretcher after a climbing accident, that better be the right knot the rescue team is using!

The Alpine Rescue Techniques manual outlines the currently accepted rescue techniques for alpine and sub-alpine rescues, as well as coastal rescues in similar terrain. Sections cover crevasse rescue, incident management, rescue teams, rope rescues, helicopter rescues, avalanche search and rescue, and rescue first aid.

Requiring the book to be published in time for a conference, the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council turned to Lift Education for its publishing expertise and reputation for producing resources to tight deadlines without sacrificing quality and accuracy.

Other projects Lift Education has undertaken for the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council include their Outdoor Leader Pathway, the Let’s Go Tramping DVD, a HUNTS Course Promotional DVD, and the Outdoor First Aid Essentials Course.
