Our team at Lift Education would like to acknowledge Martin Simpson, who sadly passed away earlier this month.
Martin was a very talented illustrator, and many of us at Lift Ed have a long history of working with him. He had a particular strength in photorealistic art, but he was also happy to adapt to the needs of an illustration brief and try something a little different if needed.
As well as being a great lover of nature and the outdoors, Martin was a keen trout fisher, and these were themes he carried through in his art.
Over the last two or three years, Martin worked with us on a number of publications including the Ready to Read title “In the Bush” and several Junior Journal and the School Journal stories and articles. Martin’s last piece for Lift appeared in one of the recently published issues of Connected 2016. It was a challenge for him to complete, as he was very ill, but we know he enjoyed the work – and as always, he delivered a stunning illustration.
He will be missed.
