My Future Party

Case Study: My Future Party – an online interactive survey
Client:
New Zealand Post
Timeframe:
November 2007 – February 2008

New Zealand Post wanted to use their 2007 Annual Report as a classroom resource and celebrate their 20 year anniversary. They commissioned Lift Education to look at ways they could incorporate the report theme into a resource that was user-friendly and inspired teachers and students.

We came up with Picture My Future Party – an online interactive survey that helps students plan their birthday party in the year 2050. Students can take the survey in English, te reo Maori or New Zealand Sign Language.

The online resource aligns closely with New Zealand Post’s theme of NZ 2050 and explores the Annual Report theme of who we are and what we will become. It also links students’ futures to the future of New Zealand Post and provides students with a positive experience of New Zealand Post.

The Lift Education team brought together experts in online, interactive learning; New Zealand Sign Language; and te reo Maori; with teachers, education resource writers, editors and translators. Our web partner, Boost new Media, turned the concept into reality.

New Zealand Post is thrilled to have an online resource students can interact with in all of New Zealand’s official languages. With the survey processing data in real time, students can compare their responses with the responses of all students taking part. Teachers teaching in English, or teaching New Zealand Sign Language or te reo Maori as second languages can download user-friendly teacher’s notes. These notes are directly aligned with the new Curriculum.

After interacting with this cutting-edge future-thinking resource, students print out their plans for their birthday in 2050 – to use in 2050!
