New Zealand Curriculum: Draft for Consultation

Case Study: Analysis of submissions for the New Zealand Curriculum: Draft for Consultation 2006
Client: Ministry of Education
Timeframe: December 2006 – March 2007

The draft New Zealand education curriculum was published in July 2006, and the Ministry of Education sought feedback on the document between August and November 2006.

One hundred and sixty-eight long submissions were received from a wide range of organisations.

The Ministry asked Lift Education to analyse these long submissions. Our job was to collate, qualitatively analyse and present detailed feedback about each aspect of the draft curriculum, and to identify the key themes that emerged.

We also developed a coding scheme to provide quantitative analysis of the seven hundred short submissions, and performed this analysis work in conjunction with Colmar Brunton.

The Ministry of Education used our reports, along with the analysis of 9000 questionnaires, to refine the Curriculum.
