Resourcing for Fee-paying International Students
Case Study: Research into resourcing for fee-paying international students
Client: Education New Zealand
Timeframe: January – April 2008
Education New Zealand was approached by schools to look at the level and type of resourcing that is required to support the learning of international students. Lift Education were commissioned to carry out the research. We set about building up a ‘snapshot’ of resourcing levels for international students in New Zealand schools.
The research had two main objectives – to map the current levels of school resourcing for staff to support fee-paying international students and to map the current levels of professional development of staff to support international students. The findings from our research would help schools to benchmark themselves against other schools throughout New Zealand.
Together with Education NZ and key stakeholders, we came up with research questions for the survey. The survey was trialled by the Schools Liaison Group and a revised version of the survey was used for the online survey.
We partnered with Colmar Brunton, drawing on their expertise in surveys. The results were collected and tabulated by Colmar Brunton and analysed by us. More than 100 people completed the online survey and our report was based on the findings.
