Second Language Learning Funding Pool
Case Study: Evaluation of the Second Language Learning Funding Pool (2004)
Clients: Ministry of Education
Timeframe: April 2005 – July 2005
Lift Education was commissioned by the Ministry of Education to evaluate the progress that schools made towards meeting the aims of the 2004 Second Language Learning Funding Pool.
The purpose of the Funding Pool was to develop quality second language learning programmes that are effective and sustainable for students in Years 7–10. Funding is available to any school that has students in those year groups. Lift Education brought extensive educational research and evaluation experience to this project, which contained qualitative and quantitative analysis of 30 schools that received funding in 2004.
Lift researched and wrote several case studies of schools that received Second Language Learning funding in 2004. From this, Lift developed a detailed understanding of the documentation completed by schools in relation to their funding application and an understanding of schools’ practice with regard to their second language teaching.
